Who would have known that a day spent on the beach with my family would ignited my passion for these amazing creatures. We saw a group of horses walking along the shore and I literally lost my mind! I ran down to the horses and the one gentleman on a horse named Viking (Grey Dessert Arabian) let me sit on his back and I immediately fell in love! I started riding at Gary's horses on the 27th of April 2008 and have never looked back. That day when I had my first lesson my passion started. I rode with Gary's for 10 years, where I learned so much and also helped out with taking tourist on beach rides.
2016 I moved stables as I was interested in competing in Show Jumping and Dressage. I found Bhengu Stables that soon became my second home and the Bhengu family is very dear to my heart. I was trained by Nicola Butler and have been competing until end of 2019. While at Bhengu Stables I started doing pony club and competed on this amazing horse named Splashdown owned by Nicola Butler. Splashdown and I did a 3 day event called Interbranch in 2017 which include equitation, dressage, showjumping and my favourite cross county! After that I did a few shows with him, which was alot of fun and I enjoyed competing for fun.
Later that year Splashdown was diagnosed with arthritis in his SI and Nicola retired him. I was very lucky to ride many amazing Equines while at Bhengu Stables that will have a special place in my heart forever. Then, I met Gabby. From the moment I first met her I knew she was my heart horse. When we got her she was very over weight and full of sass. I started doing horsemanship with her and building a bond with her. My passion for horsemanship grew from then onwards.
I graduated in 2018 and started working as a cashier at Seabreeze eBuild in Amazimtoti. I worked as a assistant at SoPro branding. I really enjoyed working there. Had alot of laughs and really learnt alot! But I had a passion for horses and the outdoors and would during my spare time I would volunteer at Bhengu Stables. One afternoon a friend phoned me saying, " Phone a lady named Naida now! She looking for someone to help her start a trail riding business!" I phoned Nadia and we started chatting. Two days later I drove up to Qambathi Mountain Lodge and did an interview. I immediately fell in love with these content horses. And not too long after that I signed a contract with Nadia and Stephen as Stable Manager.
My aim is to show people what amazing animals Equines are. They see and feel what people would hide. To be in the presence of our Equine children is a humbling experience and to ride them in our beautiful setting just calms your heart and will send you home with a huge, happy grin on your face.
I cannot wait to meet our guests that will come for ride with us. #lovemyjob #lovetankoverflowing
