Some common questions and answers
Q: I've never ridden a horse - can you accommodate beginners?
A: Absolutely! Our horses are not only kind but also well-trained to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. All our trails are guided, and safety is our top priority. Each ride includes a riding orientation, and our team is readily available throughout the journey to assist you. Our focus is on safety, and before heading out, riders are taught effective communication with their horse in a secure enclosed area. Once you feel safe and connected, it's time to venture into the wild.

Q: Do you have a weight restriction?
A: Yes, we do. While horses are often seen as invincible, we prioritize their comfort and your safety. Our weight limit is set at a maximum of 90 kgs. Unfortunately, this limit is non-negotiable, as ensuring the safety of both the horse and guests is our utmost concern. We may request guests to be weighed upon arrival.

Q: How many people go out on each ride?
A: Your ride is all about you! To ensure a personalized experience, we limit each ride to a maximum of two guests at a time. No massive groups – just you, your companion, and the beauty of the ride.

Q: Can we ride out on our own, without a guide?
A: For safety and insurance reasons, all our rides are guided. Riding on your own is not an option to prioritize everyone's well-being.

Q: Do you have helmets?
A: Safety first! We provide a selection of helmets at no extra cost. For insurance purposes, wearing a safety helmet is a requirement.

Q: What ages can riders be?
A: Our lodge is exclusively for adults, allowing us to offer horse rides for ages 16 and above. Exceptions for younger riders may be considered for outside guests, exclusive lodge hire, or when no in-house guests are present during the ride.

Q: What should I wear?
A: Dress comfortably! We recommend closed-toe shoes with a small heel, ensuring they are secure during the ride. Long, comfortable pants without zips or buttons on the inner leg are ideal. Avoid wide boots or trainers that may jam in the stirrups. Shorts are not recommended, and open-toed shoes are not allowed near the horses. Keep in mind you cannot carry loose or cumbersome items, and we don't provide lockers.

Q: Can I bring my pet?
A: Unfortunately, no. Due to wildlife, livestock, and interactions with other homesteads with resident dogs, we cannot accommodate pets at Qambathi or on the trails.

Q: I am an experienced rider and do not want to just plod – do you offer an 'experienced' ride?
A: Absolutely! We cater to all levels and abilities. Our scenic horse trail rides include challenging terrain, and for those seeking more excitement, our longer trails feature trot and canter sections. We adjust the speed to suit both rider and horse.
